Winterstick solidified its place in the backcountry by surviving and building boards for over 35 years. Our company’s momentum is similar to snowfall. Some years are better than others. Each time you learn from the good, the bad and the ugly. 2005-06 was really pretty ugly for us.
Winterstick 2007-08 mantra: "focus on your strengths". After watching our manufacturer collapse last season, taking our remaining production run with them, we have decided to focus on our strengths. Big mountain models such as the ST, Splitstick, and the legendary Swallowtail will be our focus from here on out. We needed to make construction quality the top priority and alter the way we got our boards out to riders. So, we have decided to produce limited edition and limited quantity boards and in some cases, custom orders. We know what you expect from Winterstick and we want to build you the best boards possible.
Keep your eye on our website in the coming months. We will continue to update the site with company info, production schedules and board availability .Our website will easily get the word out to those who want boards for next fall as well as provide technical info. Best of all, you will be able to get on a preseason order list for Swallowtails. We will be selling direct except through very select group of dealers where you can demo and see new product.
North America is finally being drawn to real powder boards and this year the Swallowtail has launched through several great publications. Kurt Hoy of TransWorld has a great shot of Brian Iguchi launching on a Swally as the shot on his Editors Page in the TWS 20th Anniversary Issue. Future Snowboarding put out powder board review with a photo of a rider laid out on a Swally. To top it off, Men’s Journal lined up the Swally with sports cars and private jets in a cool article in March. The Swallowtail is getting the props it deserves and we look forward to building them lighter, stronger and faster.
Thanks,
Tom, Chris & Gus
